    Cats 06/27/2011

Cats don't seem to like me!  I've made several attempts to kiss them, but they make this strange hissing noise and run away.  Maybe that's how they show affection.  Very weird.  I am learning to go potty outside - but there's so many new things to learn that sometimes I forget.  Nicholas, the smallest Scholl person, loves on me a lot.  I like little boys and will take off running to meet them no matter where they are.  My mom runs right by me and tells me to watch for cars.  She knows I love little people and lets me go meet them - she can be fast when she needs to me.

It's really hot in Oklahoma.  My fur is thick and when it all grows back in, I'm gonna be blazin' hot!  I hear the heat is better than a tornado.

I'm starting to settle into my new home and learning that my parents really want me to potty outside!  Since I lived the majority of my life in a pen, I'm not so sure about how grass feels on my paw pads.  I'm also having trouble distinguishing where the yard ends and hedges begin.  I've fallen into the hedges three times and it's very difficult to get back out without the help of mom and dad.

I love to play and although I'm 10-years-old, I act like a puppy!  The cats don't necessarily like it and flatten their ears when I bark.  I guess I bark pretty loud.  I love all the kids and dogs in the neighborhood and spend a lot of time socializing.  Mom says I'll start learning basic commands next week.

My new mom and brother drove 12 hourse (one way!) to come get me!  I arrived in Tulsa, OK, Sunday afternoon (June 19) just in time for dinner.  My new furry siblings didn't seem overjoyed to have a new sister.  I guess they'll get over it in time.  There are also 2 cats (Stinky and Sophie).  Sophie gave me cat "death stares" and Stinky hissed and puffed up like a fuzzy ball!  It was pretty funny.  Once they get to know me, I'm sure they'll know I won't hurt them.  But, they are pretty interesting little critters and I watch them everywhere they go.

I really like my new dad!  He's pretty handsome and very gentle.  I think this is going to be a good family to live with.  I need to learn some basic commands, but it's all so new.  I feel a little unsettled, but everyone keeps loving on me so I feel better.  I do miss my foster family and that silly dog, Brody!  These pups are not nearly as much fun as he was.

Mom says once I get settled, we'll start working on some basic commands (whatever that means).  Sounds like fun.

Who needs four legs anyway! I do fine with just three - but steps are a little difficult!

    Waiting on my Mom 06/12/2011

My name is Katie and I currently live in Knoxville, TN.  I am a rough-coat collie who was rescued from by some really nice people.  I ended up in a high-kill shelter and was waiting my sentence when my new friend, Michele, showed up to save me from a horrible fate.  Michele works for Collie Concern Rescue in Knoxville saving lots of girls and boys like me.  I already lost one leg due to abuse and neglect, but this was going to be worse!  My new mom found me through what some would say is coincidence, however, mom says it was divine intervention.  Whatever it is, I'm anxious for her to come get me and take me to Tulsa where I will live with a family who loves dogs.  I'm getting a brother, Buddy, a sister, Brigitte, and two smaller critter that small like cats (Sophie and Stinky).  Oh - and I forgot to tell you I get a new dad and a 2-legged brother with no hair named Nicholas!  He must have lost two legs, poor thing.

I'm going to be trained to be an Animal Assisted Therapy dog where I get to work with the clinicians at The Scholl Center.  Not sure what I'll be doing, but it sounds like a lot of fun.  My mom, Jacque Scholl, says I'm going to get lots and lots of love!  I can't wait!
