    Audiologist = Communication Specialist

    Picture
    The audiologists at The Scholl Center are communication specialists.  Experts treating the whole person - not just the ear.  Children and adults with communication disorders need more than just a device, they need a partner who can help them with community resources, rehabilitation strategies, and devices that are specific to their particular needs.  The same communication method doesn't work with everyone and The Scholl Center audiologists work hard to specialize a program that is right for you.

    The audiology staff at The Scholl Center have specialized skills in the area of hearing disorders (for pediatrics and adults), balance, cochlear implants, bone-anchored hearing aids, auditory processing disorders, tinnitus, and amplification devices.  Come see what sets us apart from the rest.

    Digital Hearing Aids

    For many, hearing aids are the only solution they need to perform well in life.  The Scholl Center audiologists dispense only from hearing aid companies that do their own research and development and provide the best quality device and service available.  With every hearing aid purchase, you will receive a 60-day trial period, maintenance kit, entry into our battery club, and two aural rehab sessions with one of our licensed, certified speech pathologists.

    For those who are not getting the benefit they desire with hearing aids and still struggle in noise or cannot use a phone might be eligible for a cochlear implant.  The criteria for implantation has expanded in recent years and many adults are finding they are good candidates for such a device.  The Scholl Center is the only center providing cochlear implant evaluations, activation and mapping, and aural rehabilitation post implantation.  Surgery is dependent on your health, not your age.

    Cochlear Implants and Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA)

    The Scholl Center cochlar implant clinic supports Cochlear, Advanced Bionics, and Med El products.  We can help you along your journey to implantation whether you are an infant, child or adult!

    Don't think that cochlear implants are just for kids.  If you are struggling with hearing aids and feel you might be a candidate, schedule for a cochlear implant evaluation.  This two hour battery of tests, along with counseling, will determine if you meet the initial audiological criteria.  If so, you are scheduled for special imaging tests which reveal any structural abnormalities.  By the time you meet with the surgeon, the preliminary legwork is already finished.

    The BAHA is an amazing device which was designed for those with one-sided deafness or conductive hearing loss.  The process is much the same as the Cochlear Implant in terms of the evaluation, however, the device works very differently.  We are here to answer questions and walk you through the process if you think you would qualify for such a device.
