Well....I'm still not feeling great. I took all my meds and am now on another round (plus I got a shot!) My new medicine is the size of horse pills, so my mom cooked some ravioli, cuts it in the middle, and stuffs the medicine inside! It is so tasty, I don't even know it's there. Brigitte and Buddie get to split the other half and they like it, too. I'm anxious to get back to the clinic. My mom has had me on bed rest so I can get better quicker. I hate it when she leaves for work without me. I LOVE the clinic and all the people. Mom said I can go just as soon as I feel better. She said I might even go back this week. The clinic just got stuffed collie-dogs that look just like me (only they have 4 legs). Add Comment Post Title. 01/27/2012
I've been a little under-the-weather lately. I have a UTI which has made me very tired - but I LOVE taking my medicine in the cute, little, tasty treat packets my mom gives me! Then I had my teeth cleaned which made me drool some, but boy does my breath feel fresh now. I will be back to normal soon, but all this attention makes me tired. I had another TV spot on Channel 2 and they were really nice. Me and my friend, Truman, were featured. Truman and I both lost a leg and we get along great! He's a special kid and he makes my tail wag! If you want to see it, go to http://www.kjrh.com/dpp/news/problem_solvers/dog-helps-patients-at-a-tulsa-clinic XXOO Busy Holiday! 01/07/2012
December was bizzzzy! I had several television spots and even tried to help with the weather segment! I got a little excited and ran onto a set on channel 8. But they were very nice and I enjoyed my short weather-dog debut. I was promoting my new line of food goods for the Tulsa Advocated for the Protection of Children (TAPC) organization and even got a pat from Garth Brooks! TAPC help all the kids at the Laura Dester Children's Center and all those sweet kids in foster care! They are a great group of people and do really wonderful things. Through Katie's Cuisine and my television spots, we raised about $7k for TAPC! I'm so glad we helped give all those kids a wonderful holiday! I've been a little under the weather lately, so I'm resting to get my strength back up. My mom says I just worked too hard in December and I need a little break. I still go to the clinic and get to be loved on by many people...and especially the kids! I love them so much. They make my tail wag. My friend, Joyce 11/26/2011
My Thanksgiving was wonderful! I spent the entire day with family and was loved on all day. In addition, the house smelled absolutely delightful! My mamma spent the entire day fussing around the kitchen and although I tried to help her by lying close to her, I did trip her a few times. She made me move back some so I wouldn't get hurt. I was sort of hoping she'd drop some of that good smellin' stuff on the ground. But, she didn't. She seems to have a sixth sense for sensing when I'm behind her. It was great fun and even more surprising was that I got an email from my old friend, Joyce! Joyce was the first person I met when I was taken to the kill shelter in Tennessee. She worked hard to get me out so I could enjoy my senior years helping others. She was so happy to see how well I was doing and was impressed with my new job! I love Joyce for helping me and all my other friends at the shelter. My mamma says it's people like Joyce who make the world a better place. Thanks, Joyce! You have an open invitation to come to Tulsa and see my new digs anytime! Meeting Rick Wells of Channel 6 11/03/2011
I am completely exhausted! I went to the doggie spa yesterday so I could be beautiful for my first television interview. If that wasn't enough to wear me out, I met Rick Wells today and I was very nervous. I've never been on television and it felt awkward having someone follow me around with a camera. But, I did get to play with my good friend, Truman. Truman, like me, is missing a leg. He's one of my best buds. I think it's really cool how he can spin his silver leg around. All in all, it was a great day! I really liked Rick and his friend with the camera, Todd, was pretty nice, too! I didn't mean to fog his camera lens up, but I just can't help myself sometimes. At first it appeared like it might taste good. I just had to check it out! I'm on Channel 6 at 6pm...I believe I might be on at 10, as well! Ready for the move! 10/23/2011
I have not been able to go to the old clinic much because it's difficult for me to get around. Riding the elevator isn't necessarily an easy thing - especially when you need to go potty! My mamma also tells me I'm the size of a small pony, so our current space hasn't been "big dog friendly." But, I am so ready to get into the new clinic! I have extra wide hallways and it will be perfect for a big girl like me! I'm ready to get bizzy helping the clinicians and the people who come to the clinic. I'm learning new things all the time. I no longer run out into the street or have mistakes in the house. I'm a very sweet girl and love people! My new job is going to be fun. I hate tree rats! 10/08/2011
I got in trouble today for chasing what appeared to be a bushy-tailed tree rat! My mom called it a squirrel, but it barked at me like a dog. I don't think mom cared that I chased her, but I ran across the street. She came flying after me like a spider-monkey! Sorry mom. I'll do better next time! Learning everyday 09/05/2011
Everyday I learn something new! I'm very smart - that's part of my breed. I manage well with three legs, but other dogs don't always want to play with me. When they do, I have a tendency to get knocked over. It's ok - I still love it! We are moving into a new clinic Nov. 1 and I will start being part of the daily routine there. I'm slightly too big to be in our current office with so many people running around. It's cramped quarters! Loving life these days! My new people take good care of me and groom me constantly. My mom says I shed a lot! She seems obsessed with brushing me. I don't care, I love the attention! My first day of work 08/15/2011
I had an exhausting day today! I went to The Scholl Center today for the first time and I wasn't sure at first what I was supposed to be doing. Then, I met Truman. Truman is a cancer survivor and he lost his leg, too. I loved him and his brother, Grey. I figured out that my main job is to bring love and happiness to others. So, that's what I did. It was very tiring so when I came home, I went right to sleep! Mom says I still have more training before I go back. I didn't listen to her very well because I was so nervous about meeting everyone. But, she loves me no matter what! I am one blessed pup! Cats 06/27/2011
Cats don't seem to like me! I've made several attempts to kiss them, but they make this strange hissing noise and run away. Maybe that's how they show affection. Very weird. I am learning to go potty outside - but there's so many new things to learn that sometimes I forget. Nicholas, the smallest Scholl person, loves on me a lot. I like little boys and will take off running to meet them no matter where they are. My mom runs right by me and tells me to watch for cars. She knows I love little people and lets me go meet them - she can be fast when she needs to me. It's really hot in Oklahoma. My fur is thick and when it all grows back in, I'm gonna be blazin' hot! I hear the heat is better than a tornado. | AuthorMy name is Katie and I am a 10-year-old rough-coat collie. I am being trained to be an AAT dog at The Scholl Center. Watch here for tails of my adventure. ArchivesFebruary 2012 Categories |
