Aural Rehabilitation

Simply put, aural rehabilitation is widely defined as a strategy to assist those with hearing loss to communicate effectively. While this can include assistive devices such as personal amplification products or hearing aids, aural rehabilitation really goes a bit deeper. Hearing devices are a great leap in the right direction toward a life of improved hearing, but if you have suffered from hearing loss for any significant period of time, you will need to learn how to understand the new sounds coming to your hearing device.

The Road to Treatment

Many treatment options are available to help you with just that. First things first, a comprehensive auditory assessment will need to be performed to determine what level of hearing loss you are dealing with. We can then develop a personalized program that meets your specific needs. Your program could include some form of personal hearing device. However, equally important is the information and training you will be provided to refine your communication and listening skills. This can include, but is not limited to, sensory management, technology support, perceptual training, counseling and education to family members adjusting to your new lifestyle.

Assistive Listening Devices

If hearing loss has been affecting your day to day life, assistive listening devices can not only give life and clarity to sound that you have been missing out on, they can potentially prevent cognitive decline which leads to dementia.

If you are a candidate for an assistive listening device, we offer a wide range of hearing technology. You are sure to be fit with a device perfect for your hearing needs!
